The Tear In Ireland’s Eye by Sinéad Brennan
SYNOPSIS// The film was created in partnership between Amnesty International-Ireland and artist Sinéad Brennan as part of the campaign to repeal the constitutional ban on abortion in Ireland.
The film shows the ‘tear’ being transported to Ireland’s Eye, an island off the coast of Dublin, by its glass sculptor Sinéad Brennan and Jack Robertson who was also involved in the making of the film.
The sculpture and film symbolise the importance of Irish women and men coming together to bring an end to the injustice of denying women abortion care in Ireland.
The concept was also brought to life with the help of a team of creatives: Jack Robertson, Karina Cotter, Conor Kenny, Kerrie Sweeney and Hazel Tracey. The film was produced by Tiny Ark.
SINOPSI // La pel·lícula va ser creada en col·laboració entre Amnistia Internacional-Irlanda i l’artista Sinéad Brennan com a part de la campanya per derogar la prohibició constitucional de l’avortament a Irlanda.
La pel·lícula mostra la ‘llàgrima’ transportada a Ireland’s Eye, una illa davant de la costa de Dublín, pel seu escultor de vidre Sinéad Brennan i Jack Robertson, que també va participar en la realització de la pel·lícula.
L’escultura i la pel·lícula simbolitzen la importància que dones i homes irlandesos s’uneixin per posar fi a la injustícia de negar l’atenció de les dones a l’avortament a Irlanda.
El concepte també es va donar vida amb l’ajuda d’un equip de creatius: Jack Robertson, Karina Cotter, Conor Kenny, Kerrie Sweeney i Hazel Tracey. La pel·lícula va ser produïda per Tiny Ark.

Sinéad Brennan
Sinéad Brennan (b.1989) is an Irish glass artist and art educator. She graduated from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin in 2012 with a BA (Hons) in Art and Design History and Craft Design and went on to receive a Professional Diploma in Art and Design Education from NCAD in 2014. Sinéad serves as Education Officer on the Board of the Glass Society of Ireland and is Co-founder of Glint Glass Studio, an open access glass workshop in Dublin. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. Recent exhibitions include European Glass Context 2016 Curated (Bornholm), Ireland Glass Biennale 2019 (Dublin) and Back On Tour (Coburg, 2020). Her work is part of public and private collections, including the Irish State Art Collection. Awards include, The 2019 RDS Craft Award and The Design and Craft Council of Ireland 2018 Future Makers Studio Support Award.

The Glass Society of Ireland is a professional all-island, non-profit association that opens a window onto the contemporary Irish Glass Community, both here in Ireland and abroad.
The GSOI is a volunteer and member-run organization.
The membership of the GSOI is open to practitioners, educators, artists, curators, collectors, academics, gallerists, enthusiasts and clients of all levels and diversity with a specific interest in glass.
Membership is open to the Irish glassmaking diaspora and international artists who have decided to call Ireland home.
